Redhawks football took a loss Thursday against the Emerson Mavericks, furthering their search for their first win of the season.
“It was not the result we were looking for,” junior Khi Bunting said. “We still were able to put up some points and grow on the field.”
The Redhawks finished the first quarter trailing by a touchdown, however, the team would ultimately fall 60-6.
“I thought we did actually some things a lot better,” head coach Matt Swinnea said. “The score doesn’t indicate it, but, you know, we were able to put together some play drives. Offensively, we had kind of challenged them to be better.”
Turnovers were a challenge for the Redhawks leading to some of the Mavericks’ success.
“So we had two fumbles, but, you know, special teams, that’s one of the hardest things,” Swinnea said. “When you’re playing both offense and defense, you have to also play special teams and kick coverage. We were not very good at we retired, and they ran two punts back. And then they had, I think they had at least two, maybe three, one play scores.”
