After months of practice the cross country season is coming to a close with the road to state starting Thursday at the District 11-5A meet at Myers Park in McKinney.
“I’m really excited about this race as it is the district race and I feel the kids are ready,” head coach Robbie Thayer said. “We have run and practiced at this course a few times so we are kind of familiar with the course.”
With the top three teams advancing to the regional meet, in addition to the top 10 individual finishers, junior Caitlyn Ruback has a championship mindset.
“I am very confident in us,” Ruback said. “For me, I’m looking to go top three and as a team definitely first place and win another district title.”
The athletes have had past meets and practices at Myers Park, but now for some team members, it will be their final meet of the year.
“I’m pretty excited for this meet,” junior Greg Kinneer said. “We’ve had a really good season and this is going to be a very good meet to end off on our season.”
