The volleyball team (10-1) beat fifth-place Heritage (4-7) at The Nest Friday, extending their winning streak to 10 matches and retaining their first-place in the District 11-5A standings.
“It was awesome,” head coach Eighmy Dobbins said. “We played so consistent and calm. We wanted to play three consistent sets and serve tough, which we did.”
According to Dobbins, what made the Redhawks’ victory especially memorable was that it was their senior night, giving seniors Mackenzie Raymond, Sophie Paulk, Brooklynn Brown, Sophia Hung, and Brianna Walsh their time in the spotlight.
“We loved getting to celebrate our amazing seniors,” Dobbins said. “They are such a hardworking and kind group of girls who deserve all the recognition. They all played great [Friday] night.”
For Paulk, the victory was bittersweet, as she and the rest of the seniors only have one home match left in their high school volleyball careers.
“It was obviously nice for our team to get the win,” Paulk said. “But it’s kind of sad and surreal to realize that after we play Memorial this Friday, I’m never gonna play another home match in high school.”
