The goal of running at state has arrived for senior Sofia Golladay after placing 12th in Region II 5A and qualifying for the state meet Nov. 2 in Round Rock.
“I crossed the finish line really tired so I didn’t process that I qualified right away,” Golladay said. “I was definitely really happy when Coach Vay told me I qualified.”
After winning the District 11-5A championship, the competition was a bit tougher with the Redhawks finishing 6th, running against schools such as Lovejoy, Wakeland, and Highland Park (1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively).
“I am definitely really proud of the girls for running hard and coming out to compete,” girls’ head coach Khera Vay said. “We trained hard for this throughout the season and it’s paying off.”
