As elections come to a start in the United States, so do student election in the AP U.S. Government classes.
Students in the AP Government class are working on a project where they get to experience what it’s like to be part of a presidential campaign.
“We are offering students this semester a fun and exciting new project that I created,” AP U.S. Government teacher Amanda Peters said. “ There are teams of 5 and in those roles there’s going to be things along the lines of the PR Manager, the Campaign Manager, the Policy Walk so to speak.”
For senior, Joseph Skinnell, this project has helped him understand the 4th unit of the course.
“It’s like an interactive lesson basically,” Skinell said. “By doing the campaign we are learning a lot about presidential campaigns, the president, policies and it’s really broadened my understanding of policies for a campaign for the legislative branch as a whole”
The final presentations will happen Thursday and Friday in which students will choose who the winner is for the mock electoral run.
