The final movie for Venom’s trilogy is out now!
Venom is a villain that is part of the Spiderman franchise. However, Sony has made its own trilogy for Venom that focuses mainly on the relationship between him and Eddie Brock, who is played by Tom Hardy. This trilogy excludes Spider Man completely.
This trilogy’s first movie came out in 2018, with the second movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage being released in 2021. Now, Sony’s Venom franchise has come to an end.
I got to see a pre-screening of it with my friend the day before it came out. However… I’ll have to say that I was mildly disappointed.
In my freshman year I had remembered that Venom existed and was floating around Disney+. I had it, so why not watch it? I ended up really liking it because I’m personally a bit of a fan of sci-fi movies and I thought the relationship between Eddie and Venom was really adorable.
I decided to give the second movie a try and I thought it was cute as well, but I didn’t love it as much as I loved the first one. Is it the best movie I’ve ever seen? No, of course not. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t one of my favorite movies.
I got so excited when I saw that the teaser was released for Venom: The Last Dance. I loved how the trailer looked and I was really invested, but I was also really nervous because I didn’t want these two best friends to die.
I went to go watch the movie with my friend and I was anxiously waiting in my seat while the previews played. I was about to see the finale for one of my favorite franchises. Yeah…that kinda dropped once the credits rolled.
If I had to rate the movie honestly, I’d give it about a 7/10. I don’t have super specific bits for why 3 points were deducted, but the movie was just not that great.
The movie itself was alright, but the ending honestly felt rushed. I was disappointed with the outcome but it’s not like I was emotional about it. I knew that Marvel is having a bit of a downfall lately, so I should’ve expected this to not turn out the best, but seeing one of my hyperfixations slowly fall because of this movie felt kinda sad.
That may seem dramatic because I know I can still love the first movie without caring about the third one, but the disappointment I felt after watching Venom 3 is making me feel less obsessed about it.
I still have some appreciation for this trilogy and I like when separate universes are made about a certain character or franchise. It gives you a different perspective and what it would be like if things were different. However, this movie might not be something that I’ll watch again.
