The library now offers more than just books thanks to Librarian Chelsea Hamilton’s efforts to bring more creative activities into the space. This year, Hamilton launched a Craft Club, a monthly gathering encouraging students to explore different hands-on projects.
Hamilton started the club earlier this year after noticing students’ curiosity about her embroidery projects.
“I decided to start Craft Club at the beginning of the year when students would often come up to me, and I would have my embroideries out, Hamilton said. “They’d come up and ask me questions about it.”
To enhance the club’s experience, Hamilton has partnered with National Honor Society (NHS), whose members join once a month to assist with activities. Each month offers a new craft project, with October featuring spooky paintings, November focusing on keychain making and additional painting, and December introducing crochet and knitting.
“We’ve got a list of things we’re going to work on or try out next semester, too,” Hamilton said. “It’s just a fun way for students to come in and try something new.”
