A classic sign of fall in Frisco has been canceled this year. Every year, different schools and organizations all around Frisco come together to celebrate the annual tradition of the Community Parade for Veterans day on Main Street.
However, due to the construction in and around downtown Frisco, the area has been deemed too dangerous to host the parade safely for the next two years.
“It was probably upsetting for a lot of people,” senior Avery Peters said. “I know that Cheer is usually in it and so I think it’s kinda sad because a lot of people look forward to it each year and it’s just kind of a fun thing to just do and plan and prepare for.”
The parade has been a staple in many fisd activities, especially for high school sports and arts across the district
For junior Abraham La Rosa, the parade was a chance to connect with the band after competition season ended
“It was a little unfortunate just because it’s such a fun experience that I kinda wish we could have again,” La Rosa said. “A lot of the freshman have never had that experience and it’s kinda sad because it brings you closer together and it’s just an extra event after a competition which is fun.”
The parade is expected to return in November 2026.
