A couple of weeks ago I wrote about my new treatment. However, after receiving another dose I can report there are side effects to this new treatment and not fun ones.
After I received my initial loading dose I began to get sick a day later. I figured this was just a common cold, given everyone I knew was getting sick. But, after receiving my second loading dose, I can confirm this is not just a coincidence. I found myself sick, yet again, in the days following my treatment. Looking into the new medication and some common side effects I did find an upper respiratory tract infection is the most common side effect.
Unfortunately, this is a pain and no fun. This sickness I got lasted almost a week. The first two days it was hard to manage, and the days following it was just annoying congested and hurting sinuses. But, I see this as a small price to pay for this new treatment as it was great timing-wise! The infusion itself only lasted an hour, and my next infusion is not until the end of January. We win some and we lose some.
Next week I will touch on being active while still having my disease. I can’t wait to continue to share my story with you! Remember our struggles don’t define us.
