I’ve been spending some time on Instagram reels just looking for art inspiration, some of my friends’ stories and thoughts, or just looking for something to chuckle at.
I don’t get much religious reels on my feed just because I don’t get them recommended to me. When I do, I sometimes watch them just to see what it’s about, whether it’s to hear a bit of gospel from my religion or learn about others’ religious beliefs.
However, I tend to go to the comments to see what other people say about it. And…sometimes the comments are not as respectful as they should be.
I do not see a problem with making posts about making sure to pray or just telling you that Jesus Christ loves you. If it’s just a casual supportive message, then it’s okay. But if you’re making that reel to make everyone follow your beliefs against their will, then that’s when it gets concerning.
Not everyone is gonna be on the same train as you or believe the same things that you do. If you participate in worship, it’s okay to be strong in your faith and share the gospel with others without shouting at others that you’re right.
However, the same goes with those who are atheist. There is absolutely nothing wrong with choosing not to believe in anything, but of course, commenting stuff like “You know he isn’t real right?” or “Why do people believe this weird stuff?” is plain disrespectful.
You can disagree with a certain religion’s practices without outwardly telling them that they’re wrong. You are neither right or wrong for following certain beliefs and it doesn’t make you any ‘smarter’ or ‘dumber’ than anyone else.
Most people think that religious people completely reject science and only focus on religion. But that’s a weird mindset to have, isn’t it? Science and religion are tied into each other because religious people believe that their creator(s) made science.
But how would we know? Religion is about faith and what YOU personally think. Sure, we have text such as the Holy Bible, but again, this is just what someone THOUGHT happened. We’ll never know which religion is actually true or if no religion is true at all. We’ll never know if there’s truly something beyond the Earth that we walk on.
But all I’m saying is that no matter what, don’t let other people tell you what to think. You are your own person and deserve your own rights. Respect other people’s beliefs and if they don’t respect yours, then there’s no need to interfere.
We all deserve respect and equal rights as well as treating each other as we should be treated. Let people live how they want to live and focus on you.
