Taking to the pitch for the first time this year, the Redhawks boys’ and girls’ soccer team will play their first non-district games of the season Friday.
“We have been preparing for quite a while,” head boy’s soccer coach Evan Mcgee said. “We’ve been working on a couple different formations that we’re gonna kind of experiment with tonight.”
The boys’ team will be matched up against Newman Smith in an away game, bringing in new talent after losing seniors last year.
“I’m hyped for tonight’s game,” senior Lucas Godoy said. “We have new talent that is stepping up. We have a lot of guys out tonight too for club, so it will be interesting.”
On the other side, the girls will take on Kimball at The Nest.
“I am really excited for our first game to see how everyone plays and how we work together because we are a very new team with a lot of freshmen,” junior Caitlyn Ruback said. “I think there will be a lot of struggles but we will make sure to stay positive. And I’m hoping for a win.”
