Looking to build off of their winson Dec. 13, boy’s and girls’ soccer head into their second game of the season Tuesday. The boys will take on Newman Smith at The Nest, while the girls play at Grapevine.
A young team to start, the Redhawks boys were missing players last week, yet were still able to pull off the win. With many players returning, junior Joey Mediaceja believes this will better the team.
“We have a lot of players back compared to last week,” Mediaceja said. “Like I wasn’t there, so I feel like we will play even better and have a better chance at winning.”
The girls also have a young crew, with only two seniors this year.
“We’ve got leadership in them being in the program for so long,” head girls coach Kyle Beggs said. “We have quite a few juniors as well and I think that’s good, mixed with the young talent that we have on the team as well. They’re pulling those freshmen along with them.”
Grapevine is coming off a long playoff run in 2024 and a state championship in 2023.
“I hope we just try our best and give it our all on the field,” senior Sydney Boroughs said. “Staying aggressive and working on our technique.”
