One of the negative aspects of my condition is that I struggle to maintain my energy. However, there are certain things I can do to help restore or maintain it.
First off, sleep. Sleep is so important to recharge our bodies, and especially for me. I need to get my eight hours every night.
Secondly, food. What I eat and how much I eat is also important. Eating healthier foods consistently helps. I always carry a little snack on me, as I find when I haven’t eaten in a bit my disease symptoms worsen.
Third, mindfulness. Stress or anxiety can be really hard on me. My symptoms, especially in my face worsen. Practicing ways to deal with stress and anxiety like journaling or yoga helps a lot!
Fourth, pacing. Planning my days in ways where I am not overwhelmed with activity or including times for rest is so important.
Next week I will touch on how college will affect my treatments. I can’t wait to continue to share my story with you! Remember our struggles don’t define us.
