Hoping to remain first in District 11-5A, the girls’ basketball team (3-0) plays Heritage (2-1) on Friday at 5:45 p.m. The girls will also compete in the Sandra Meadows Classic December 26-28 before resuming district play against Independence (1-2) after the new year.
“I think it’s important to keep playing well in defense and be shooting the ball well, but also not giving up when we get down,” varsity player junior Lilian Johnson said.
For head coach Ross Reedy, there are three things that are most important in continuing to win games.
“Right now we’re just trying to really get our kids working really hard and tired because there’s a really big difference between shooting in practice and shooting when you’ve been running,” Reedy said. “The other thing is collectively being able to go against pressure, so that we can take care of the ball and get ourselves good shot opportunities. And finally, they’ve got really good players that have got to collectively go against from an individual perspective and a team perspective.”
