Wingspan: When and why did you start playing basketball?
Murphy: “I started playing basketball in the third grade. I joined the team with my friends and my dad was the coach of our PSA team.”
Wingspan: What is your favorite part about basketball?
Murphy: “My favorite part is playing the game with my team. Wouldn’t want to choose another program or another group to play the game of basketball with.”
Wingspan: What do you hope to accomplish this season?
Murphy: “I hope that we give it our all and despite [whatever] the outcome the season may be, I want to know that we gave it our best shot.”
Wingspan: How has the team been preparing for the season?
Murphy: “We have been working hard on the court and also in film, trying to learn from our mistakes to become a better team.”
Wingspan: Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
Murphy: “My biggest inspiration is probably my dad because he has been with me every step of the way.”
Wingspan: Does being previous state champs add pressure? Why or why not?
Murphy: “It does for sure, because to me it feels like it is a requirement to get back to that state final game. Since we won the past two years, going back for a third is the goal.”
Wingspan: Do you plan to play basketball after high school? Why or why not?
Murphy: “I plan to possibly play intramural basketball in college but I do not plan to play at the collegiate level.”
