Combining style and Christmas, fashion design students were tasked with creating a stocking.

This project was the very first machine sewing project of the year, teaching students valuable skills such as sewing over curves and advanced stitches, creating a challenging but kind project

But, for senior Sophia Hung, she decided to go above and beyond, creating over 20 stockings 

“In the name of holiday spirit, I wanted to make a gift for all of my family since I love doing crafts this is a good stress reliever for me,” Hung said. 

With the help of her teacher, Kristi Swinnea, Hung has created countless stockings for friends, family, and more

“This year, Sophia had the idea that she wanted to make stockings for her whole family, and that’s 18 people, including herself,” Swinnea said. “Then she decided to do a stocking for Ms. Whaling, Mr. John, and Ms. Sally, and we’ve added 8 more stockings for other teachers since then.”

Hung has worked over the past two weeks nearly, learning new skills and techniques to accomplish her goal, ending with an approximate total of 30 stockings.
