Both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams struggled to find positive results the winter break. The boys’ team defeated Creekview 1-0 before a 7-1 loss to Tyler Legacy, before managing to bounce back with a 2-0 win against El Dorado. The girls’ team, meanwhile, lost 3-0, 5-0, and 2-1 against Pearce, Amarillo, and North Mesquite, respectively.
“We could have done some things better, especially moving the ball in the scoring third, but we were playing some very tough competition,” girls’ head coach Kyle Beggs said. “We’ll have things to work on in practice, but we played very well as a very young team.”
Although the team didn’t get the results it wanted, junior Caitlyn Ruback knows the team can improve in the future.
“”I know as a team we all could’ve done better but thankfully we get more practice because we’re still pretty early in the season,” Ruback said.
On the boys’ side, junior Joey Medieceja believes these games serve as a learning experience for the boys team.
“We can take what we learned from all of them and put that stuff into our practices so hopefully we can improve,” Medieceja said.
