To remain first in District 11-5A and keep their momentum going, the girls’ basketball team (5-0) hopes to win in their upcoming game against Memorial (5-0) on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.
“What I think is going to be important [in the Memorial game] is making sure we execute our offense against their pressure and defensive assignments well,” senior Anaiah Warrior said.
The games the team have already played have provided insight as to what key skills needed in the upcoming game according to head coach Ross Reedy.
“Stylistically [we are] seeing things that we see in memorial that we got to see over the break,” Reedy said. “So we’re gonna need that resilience, toughness to ultimately be able to have some success with this.”
The team resumes the continuation of district play after a busy start to winter including victories against Heritage (50-28) and Independence (27-21), and taking part in the Sandra Meadows Classic tournament where the Redhawks went 4-2 to finish in 6th.
“What helped us was finding that team chemistry a little bit, finally getting some consistency in our line ups and just keeping our heads together,” Reedy said.
For senior varsity player Kathryn Murphy, playing together with good teamwork is what helped them through each of their games.
“We were just super determined to come out with a good couple wins,” Murphy said. “It was really fun being able to play together as a team and doing what we do well.”
