The expected arrival of a winter storm Thursday morning has led Frisco ISD, as well as many other school districts, to cancel school Thursday. The following email communicating this information was sent out to parents Wednesday afternoon.
“Frisco ISD Parents,
Frisco ISD buildings will be closed for instruction and business on Thursday, January 9, 2025, due to anticipated inclement weather and poor road conditions.
- After school activities on Wednesday, Jan. 8, will continue as scheduled.
Make-up day: Frisco ISD will not need to utilize a bad weather make-up day.
- Why? The District can meet the state requirements for minutes of instruction based on our current 2024-25 academic calendar.
Second nine weeks’ grades: Grades were originally scheduled to be posted by noon on Thursday, Jan. 9, for all FISD students, but this will be delayed.
- Semester grades will be posted by the end of the day when FISD returns to normal school operations.
What about Friday, Jan. 10? Frisco ISD will continue to monitor the weather along with the city of Frisco and other area emergency management officials.
- A decision about whether to open schools on Jan. 10 will be communicated no later than 3 p.m. on Thursday.
- As with all school days, if you do not receive an email, it is safe to assume school is in session.
More information about weather-related closings in Frisco ISD is available on our District website.”
