Students in Dance 1 are going around the world in less than 80 days as they start their world dance project.
“We have designed a world dance project that allows our students to work together and investigate how the dance has impacted our society [and] the history of dance,” dance teacher Nicole Nothe said. “It gives the group an opportunity to teach the choreography to other dancers.”
For many students in Dance 1, including freshman Vaishnavi Jha, it’s this second opportunity that really stands out when it comes to the world dance project.
“My background is [in] kathak[, which] used to be a religious dance but now it is usually used for entertainment,” Jha said. “It’s kinda nice to be able to share a piece of my culture with people I know.”
