After a long break between games, Redhawks boys’ soccer travels to Marcus for their last game before the start of district play, taking on the Marauders Friday at 7:30 p.m.
“We didn’t need a game yesterday to be prepared for the game Friday, and honestly Friday is the more important game,” head boy’s coach Evan McGee said. “It’s the first game before our district game.”
With districts lurking closer junior Brandon Breauniger can feel the pressure.
“There is definitely some pressure due to continuing our win streak,” Breauniger said. “It also dictates our tone for our upcoming district game.”
Two starters, center-back Hector Jenkins and goalkeeper Srikrishna Rajagopal, will be out for the next couple of games. McGee, however, believes his players will step up to the plate.
“I think they understand that it’s a team sport, and missing one person has an impact but it’s more about the team collectively than just individual players,” McGee said.
