Following a previous long weekend from the snow and ice, students and teachers are ready to enjoy another 3-day weekend for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday.
“I’m so excited because I’m gonna sleep and I might also catch up on work because I’m finally getting the opportunity to have an extra day off for my weekend,” junior Zaina Mirza says. “I like spending time with my family because they have a chance to talk to me [since] I’m not busy.”
Junior Katie Kim believes that having long weekends is important for students and especially during busy academic periods when school can be overwhelming.
“It’s important because school drains students and teachers a lot,” Kim says. “It’s important to have extra long weekends.”
For art teacher Emily Delarios, because of the previous days off for the snow and ice, having another extended weekend is not quite necessary yet, as the recent breaks provided sufficient times for students and teachers to rest and reset.
“We kinda just had extra time off from school with the snow days,” Delarios says. “So I don’t think we really need it yet, but I’m still happy to have it.”
