Hook ‘em!
I have officially been accepted into the University of Texas at Austin Class of 2029. Although I knew that I was an automatic-admit, meaning I was guaranteed a spot in the Liberal Arts College. However, what I was not expecting was getting into McCombs, the business school.
I’ll be honest, I applied as a joke. Objectively, McCombs is the most renowned and revered at UT Austin. I was an auto-admit meaning I was in the top 6% of my class. For four years I worked really hard, taking almost 17 AP classes and multiple extracurricular. Because of this, I knew I had a spot under, so I just decided to shoot my shot and put down my actual, intended major as my second and third choices.
Come January 15, 2025, I open up my portal and see that I was admitted to the business major. I was absolutely shocked and so ecstatic. Just because I applied as a joke doesn’t mean I’m not interested in the major. I always intended to go into law or the political science field, but getting into the business major kind of gave me a moment of clarity…divine intervention?
I wrote my application about wanting to go into the business of corporate law so this was just a sign. I’m not completely sure if I am going to commit, but as of this moment it is my top choice. I would have to see where else I get into, but I feel at ease knowing that a really amazing, highly-ranked school wants me to attend.
My next decision is Northeastern University.
