The boys’ basketball team (5-4) saw their four-game winning streak snapped at the Nest by the Heritage Coyotes (9-0) Tuesday night, with the Redhawks losing 48-38. With the loss, the team now sits in fourth place in District 11-5A.
“Going in we knew that this was going to be probably the hardest game we’ve played up to this point,” head coach Bruce Wright said. “There were some bright spots for us but in the end we just weren’t able to pull it off.”
For senior Jacob Nickell, what matters the most was the experience the team gained playing the first-place team in districts.
“We did lose, which obviously sucks,” Nickell said. “But the more important thing is that we got to gain experience against a high-level opponent, so we know what to work on and how to play against teams like them in the future.”
