The boys’ basketball team (6-5) fell short at home against Memorial (8-3) Friday, losing a back-and-forth, down-to-wire game 64-60 in overtime.
“Unlike the first time we played Memorial this season, we were able to keep it a close game throughout all of the quarters, even with us missing [junior] Gilbert [Aluga] and his brother [freshman] Alex, two of our highest scorers,” assistant coach Robert Wilson said. “It was our senior night and those guys really stepped up to get a lot of points for us. We were even leading at one point in overtime but it came down to us not being able to return a couple free throws they had made.”
Even though it ended in a loss, for senior Eshan Kumar, one of his last games as a Redhawk was a moment of pride.
“It was great to see us really executing our game plan to keep it close and have all of the team working together,” Kumar said.
