Hoping to defeat Frisco (3-9) and clinch a spot in the playoffs, the boys’ basketball team (7-5) hosts the Raccoons Friday at 7:15 p.m., with the goal of ending District 11-5A play with a victory.
Assistant coach Robert Wilson says the difference in the two teams’ records has not impacted how the Redhawks are preparing for this game.
“Our preparation remains unchanged,” Wilson said. “We’re still going to put in a full scout. We’ll look at what we did well against them last time, and what we struggled with, then put our players through those situations as best we can in practice. Our guys have set high goals for themselves and it’s imperative they remain accountable to them.”
Sophomore Gideon Akemi says the team has also been finding solutions to two things that have plagued them in recent games: turnovers and offensive rebounds.
“We’ve been allowing our opponents to get way too many offensive rebounds lately, which is something that has slowed us down momentum-wise,” Akemi said. “Turnovers have been a big issue, too, but as long as we communicate effectively, we should be able to get less of those.”
