Soccer only has two more games remaining in the first half of district play, with the boys and girls taking on the Memorial Warriors Friday.
The guys are coming off a 3-0 win against the Independence Knights, and are hoping to carry that momentum into Friday.
“We need to get into space to shoot more often and rack up goals,” senior Logan Cox said. “We also need to communicate, especially in the back.”
Currently sitting fifth in the District 11-5A, a win is crucial according to senior Lucas Godoy.
“We want to go into the second half of districts in the top four,” Godoy said. “Only the top four advance to playoffs and ideally we would want to be better than fourth.”
On the other side, the girls are coming off their first tie of the season.
“Something our team did well was encouraging each other and communicating on the field,” freshman Maddison Dixon said.
Head girls coach Kyle Beggs believes the strategy might need to be changed against Memorial.
“We want to try to possess the ball a little bit more going into this game,” Beggs said.
