A four day weekend for students begins Friday with Valentine’s Day and continues through Monday and President’s Day.
“I’m excited for the four day weekend because I have lots of time to hang out with my friends,” sophomore Audrey Swallow said. “I’m glad that I’ll be able to sleep in and just chill at home too. It’s a nice break.”
“I get to catch up on sleep, see my friends, and celebrate Valentine’s Day,” junior Isha Banerjee said. “It’s like a mini break.”
Teachers are getting slightly less time off due a staff development day Friday from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
“There’s a part of me that loves the idea of a half-day to work with my teammates and get sort of caught up in the planning, you know without the distractions of students being at school,” English teacher Jennifer Herrera said. “Of course I would prefer a full-day so that we all have four days off for the weekend. It is also difficult to end on an A-day and then we have a 4 day break in between and come back on a b-day which kinda breaks it up a little bit.”
This four day weekend is also special for many people as it allows them to not only take a break from school, but also spend time with their loved ones on Valentine’s Day.
“I think it’s cool that the four day weekend falls on Valentine’s Day because it gives me a chance to celebrate and hang out with my family,” sophomore Nash Pulley said. “We’re going to go out for lunch and that’s going to be fun so I’m just glad that we have the long weekend right now.”
