Facing off against the Frisco Racoons Thursday to begin the second half of district play, the Redhawks boys soccer team ultimately would lose 2-0.
“We had a lot of things happen that shouldn’t have,” senior Lucas Gody said. “It was a very aggressive and intense game and it got the best of us. We should have come out on top.”
The boys now head into their bye Tuesday, while the girls had theirs last Friday. The Lady Redhawks will get to take their chance with the Racoons Tuesday 4:30 at The Nest.
“The last time we played Frisco, we were very close,” head girls coach Kyle Beggs said. “That was our first district game, so it was a little bit tough, but we played very hard and they got really lucky. I’m just hoping they can build on their current success.”
Having a full week since their last game against Emerson, Beggs believes the time off will work in the girls’ favor.
“It’s good in the sense that if you’ve got little knocks and injuries you can take some time to recover and recoup from that,” Beggs said. “Get some stamina back, maybe if you’re feeling a little worn down.”
