The Academic Decathlon team is on the road to San Antonio. The Redhawks team began preparing for this weekend when the school year started. The goal: making it back to state.
Mission accomplished, and now the team is heading south for the State competition.
“The Academic Decathlon team is going down to San Antonio on Thursday morning we have a big send off just hope you can be there,” Academic Decathlon teacher Tim Johannes said. “We’re going to head down to San Antonio with the 40 best teams in the state, and I think we have a good chance of bringing home some medals.”
Having advanced to State in previous years, the team is hoping for a better finish this year. For seniors such as Dhwani Mital, this is the perfect way to end the journey.
“For Academic Decathlon this year im really excited for how we do at state,” Mital said. “We’ve been doing the best we have for the last 4 years i’ve been on the team and I’m really excited to see how our team will perform. All the people on the team have been working really really hard for this and at the last competition we scored better than we had last year at State so I’m really hopeful for how we’re gonna do and I’m really proud of how far the team has come.”
