The Redhawks track season continued Saturday at the Wylie Pirate Invitational at Wylie ISD Stadium with the girls team finishing in 4th, winning the long jump, and triple jump among other top finishes.
“I thought the meet went really well. The girls competed in a really tough field of athletes,” girls head coach Khera Vay said. “The girls team ended up fourth overall which was really good, especially because we ended up pulling some girls out of some events just cause they had a pretty long day waiting for some field events. We’re trending in the right direction, just gotta keep it going until we get to district and hopefully be able to secure a district team.”
With the season being halfway done, preparations for championship season have begun.
“The meet went decent for the most part on the boys side of the team. Everyone did their best knowing it was going to be a long and tiring meet which can be demotivating for some, but the kids were able to persevere through the thought of that,” boys head coach Robert Thayer said. “Districts are coming up soon so we are challenging the team more during practice for sure like doing long and intense workouts that we normally wouldn’t make the athletes do.”
