Traveling to Wylie East High School Thursday and Friday for a tournament, the baseball team (2-2) saw themselves outscored 4-2 against the Royse City Bulldogs (5-2) in their first game. However, the Redhawks were not discouraged by the loss, as they held the Wylie East Raiders (2-2) scoreless, 6-0, to finish the tournament with a 1-1 record.
“There were a lot of good things that we saw and a lot of things that we need to work on,” assistant coach Caleb Torres said. “The good news for us is that it’s still early in the season and we have a little bit of time before districts.”
Freshman Joshua Fei believes that continuing to persevere and having a collective mindset will benefit the team.
“Our team strength of persevering and having the will to earn runs even when the game came close gave us the edge in the second game,” Fei said. “Our biggest takeaway is to continue to have good team at bats and do what we do as a team not individually.”
