The Redhawks baseball team (2-4) played three games over the course of two days last week during the Tournament of Champions, but wound up only winning one of them. Losing 0-4 to Panther Creek (0-0), Liberty rebounded with a 9-1 victory over Lakeview Centennial (0-1) before falling just short of Reedy, 9-8.
“We just need to work on our costintency,” assistant coach Easton Moore said. “We had everything in place for a sweep, all the pieces were there, but the reason we couldn’t pull that off was because we constantly let our opponents get the better of us.”
Junior Stephon Phillips says there’s an easy fix to that: playing style.
“We need to allow ourselves to play more loosely, and stop making so many simple errors,” Phillips said. “That and being more consistent at bats and pitches should help us improve our game.”
