The softball team (5-1) continued their success over spring break, defeating Independence (2-4) 7-1 at The Nest and Memorial (3-3) 19-2 on the road.
“I hope [these wins] show the girls just how strong they are as a team,” head coach Tiffany Thayer said. “Our bats were really working, and both pitchers did a great job keeping things under control on the mound. It was an all-around great team effort, and we’re looking to keep that momentum going.”
Momentum is something that could be crucial for the team as they host Emerson (5-1) Monday at 6 p.m., according to Thayer.
“One of the biggest challenges is the perception that Emerson is the ‘Goliath’ in our David vs. Goliath matchup,” Thayer said. “There’s a bit of a mental barrier there, but we need to trust in our abilities and have confidence in ourselves today. If we play our game, stay focused, and believe in what we can do, we’ll be ready to compete.”
