57 days until the end of the 2024-25 school year and 37 days until the international college decision day. But some seniors have known for months where they are going to college, while others have yet to hear back.
“Patience is a virtue,” senior Tarak Oak said. “Just gotta wait it out. I know God has a path for me, I know that there is something waiting for me. I’m fine waiting for that.”
For students who applied to Ivy schools like Harvard, Columbia, or Brown they will not hear until “Ivy Day” with their decisions expected to be released on Thursday. However, Ivy schools are not the only ones with late decision dates, as various other private and public institutions are still releasing results late in the school year.
“Georgetown is the only school I’m still waiting to hear back from,” senior Lucas Godoy said. “Which really sucks because I’m trying make a decision already and it’s so late.”
Senior Sofia Golladay has known where she is going to school for months now as the University of Arkansas has rolling admissions. Golladay has even found her roommates and has been shopping for decorations .
“I have been hanging out with my roommates already for next year,” Golladay said. “It makes me super excited for the future and we have already been planning our dorm rooms and stuff.”
Being “behind” stresses Oak, as he can not begin the other necessary college steps because he still does not know what school he will be attending.
“I would definitely say it stresses me out,” Oak said. “I would really like to know where I’m going, just so I can get ahead on roommate stuff and just like planning my future.”
While Oak still waits for decisions, senior Bea Dunlop has heard back from all of their schools just simply struggling to make a decision on which college to choose.
“I have been thinking a lot about where I’m going,” Dunlop said. “How they could work out, but I’m definitely not trying to get too attached to a school as I research them.”
