The softball team (6-2) was on the road for Friday’s game against Frisco (4-4), but that didn’t stop them from coming out on top with a 19-4 win.
“With just 10 players, depth was always a challenge, but we made the most of what we had,” head coach Tiffany Thayer said. “We have a hard working group, and we focused on showing up ready to compete.”
Sophomore Elizabeth Zuniga believes the team performed well not just physically but also mentally.
“They’re a scrappy team, so we needed to match their energy and focus on the mental aspect of the game throughout everything,” Zuniga said.

This thrilling recap of Liberty High softball’s victory perfectly captures why high school sports matter beyond the scoreboard. The team’s ability to rally after that 3rd-inning error shows a mental toughness that’ll serve these athletes far beyond the diamond.
Three Championship-Worthy Highlights:
Defensive Grit: The double play in the 5th with bases loaded was textbook clutch performance under pressure
Strategic Substitution: Bringing in #22 as pinch runner for the winning run proved coaches’ instincts were razor-sharp
Community Support: The shot of elementary schoolers cheering by the fence speaks volumes about this program’s legacy
Alumni Perspective:
As a 2018 grad, seeing the team implement the same “Next Pitch” mentality we used during our title run gave me full-circle chills.
Looking Ahead:
With that freshman pitcher’s 12-strikeout performance, is this the start of a new dynasty era? The district playoffs just got exponentially more interesting!
