The other day, I picked up Starbucks before going to my grandmother’s house. I ordered a caramel ribbon crunch frappucino, and when my grandma saw my drink that was barely even coffee, she said “Why do you need such sweet coffee? Back in my day we didn’t have these frappuccino things.”
It really made me think about how many things people get judged by on a daily basis. Why is coffee a target for hatefulness? Since when does ordering a sweet coffee affect someone else in any way?
No one should be judged for things that they like to consume, especially since it doesn’t affect anyone other than the person who paid for it and drank it.
Being judgemental is far too normalized nowadays to the point where people don’t eat and drink what they want to, or do their hair how they want to, or dress how they want to because people are scared of getting judged.
Additionally, I think people should care less about what other people say about them. Sure, it’s wrong to make fun of people, but their opinion about something you’re choosing to do with your style also doesn’t matter.
Coffee especially is one of those things that you should just do what you want with instead of worrying about other people because caffeine is usually the thing that people drink to keep themselves from getting irritated or angry in the morning. There are so many people who you just shouldn’t talk to until they’ve had their morning coffee, and if they need their coffee that bad, you should probably just not comment on what they’re drinking.
Will you be thinking about that guy who ordered a white mocha frappuccino in an hour? No. So don’t worry about it now.
