FISD to host summer school webinars for high school students

Frisco ISD’s summer school webinar is Tuesday at 6 p.m., with sessions from June 2–26 and registration open April 3–May 30.

Frisco ISD high school students and parents can learn more about the district’s secondary summer school program through upcoming informational webinars on Tuesday 6 p.m. 

“FISD’s summer school webinar is an informational webinar hosted by the district for parents and students to learn more about summer school opportunities and ask all of the questions they can directly to summer school organizers,” Lead Counselor Lauren Zambiasi said. 

Summer school sessions run from June 2 to June 26, with registration opening from April 3 to May 30.

Tuition costs for these classes may vary: 

  • High school: $275 per semester ($100 for reduced lunch, $50 for free lunch)
  • Out-of-district students: $300 per semester

Competing in a variety of contests, FFA students are preparing for state competitions. “Milk quality is a contest that I never would have expected to be a coach of, and the fact that I am anticipating us going to state for the third year in a row for that contest is honestly very surprising,” FFA sponsor Brittany Avant said. “We have learned a lot over the last few years and being one of the top teams in the North Texas area has made us one to beat and it is really exciting being that competitive.”

English teachers have spent the year preparing freshmen and sophomores for Tuesday’s English I and II STAAR tests, with results set to release on June 10.

Lea is a junior in her second year of Wingspan and will be a managing editor this year. She is the VP of Written Events in DECA, handles marketing for the Yearbook, and holds officer roles in nonprofit organizations like Aid4Need and Read Ahead. When she is not writing, you can probably find her reading, spending time with friends, or watching her favorite TV shows (mostly Criminal Minds and Suits). Remi Williams is a senior and starting her fourth year in Wingspan. At school she is involved in Student Council, on the Girls soccer team, and is Historian for NHS. When she’s not at work she loves hanging out with her friends, working out, and trying new recipes. But she’s usually talking to anyone and everyone or watching Netflix (feel free to send her show recommendations). Her most embarrassing accomplishment is that she has a couple thousand followers on Tik Tok, even though she doesn’t know a single dance. Remi is hoping to pursue a career in marketing at whatever school accepts her in the future. Oh, and she is also probably the funniest person you will ever meet despite what anyone may say.
