The Collin College Board of Trustees voted to keep tuition rates for the 2025 fall semester at the current rate of $67 per credit hour, the lowest community college rate in the state.
For junior dual credit student Rupal Shirpurkar, Collin College’s tuition makes it easy to earn credit while saving money.
“Collin Classes are cheaper than college classes and I appreciate that it’s cheaper because it gives me college and high school credit,” Shirpurkar said. “Some classes I won’t have to take in college and that saves me tuition money for the future.”
The decision represents the district’s values of educational accessibility for Collin College Board of Trustees Chair Andrew Hardin.
“Collin College is committed to providing an affordable and impactful education to our students,” Hardin said in a Collin College news release. “As an institution, we are pleased to be able to continue with the district’s current low tuition rates to ensure that higher education remains accessible to our communities.”
For all credit students, regardless of their educational goals or which degrees and certificates they are looking to accomplish, the same tuition rates apply.
“I am proud to work for a district and with a Board of Trustees that looks at the bottom line when it comes to tuition costs,” Collin College district president Dr. Neil Matkin said in a Collin College news release. “College degrees open many doors and are life changing for our students, but they must be in a position to finish their degrees and not go deep in debt to do so. Keeping college costs down is one way we can help them reach their goals.”
