The girls’ golf team finished fourth in the UIL 5A State Tournament at Wolfdancer Golf Club in Bastrop, missing a spot on the podium by 25 strokes.

“My rounds both days started off pretty slow,” senior Darby Deans said. “So by the time I made the turn I was already too many over par, but both days in the back nine I did a lot better.”

Although the team didn’t medal, they made school history with the highest finish ever.

“We’ve played with those teams before but only at state,” Deans said. “So we kinda knew what we were expecting but Grapevine played really well so they were pretty tough to catch.”

With another year still left to play, junior Sarah Buss is looking forward to the future of the team.

“I think it was a really good experience,” Buss said. “I mean we walked in pretty confidently speaking as we had a really good chance to medal but we had some really tough rounds and we ended up finishing in 4th place.”
