Show choir auditions begin Wednesday
September 8, 2017
Open auditions for show choir start on Wednesday and run through Friday before and after school in room F124, and are open to all students, regardless of whether they are enrolled in the choir program.
Students will need to prepare a few measures of a pop, broadway, jazz, or other non-classical song of their choosing.
“It’s an opportunity for kids who like music and like to sing to participate in a little less formal and stylistically familiar music,” choir director Bruce Stevenson said. “Even kids who aren’t in choir can be part of it, so they can come in the program through show choir.”
While show choir was established the spring semester of last year, they plan to use the whole year to participate in events inside and outside of school.
“My goals are to get as many guys as girls and have a very proficient, tight group that can really do some good things and represent our program, Liberty, and the community,” Stevenson said. “Some of the stuff we do might be at school, but I can see us doing some singing out and around the community, like singing for the school board.”
Former show choir members are also required to try out again with many hopeful about what this year’s group will have to offer.
“Show choir last year was fun,” junior Annabel Rejzovic said. “I’m hoping we have more guys join this year and that we have more opportunities to perform because we have the whole year to rehearse this year.”
