Providing scholarships to seniors and grants to educators, the Frisco Education Foundation has been placed in the top 25 of K-12 education foundation by the Caruthers Institute, a nonprofit think-tank.
“Last year we awarded over $670,000 to the class of 2017,”FEF Director Allison Miller said in a November interview with WTV. “We should be pretty much on track with that this year. That all depends on our fundraising efforts, our Gary Burns Fun Run is a major component in the deciding factor as well as our other fundraisers and the outside entities that contribute to our scholarship funding.”
FEF has awarded more than $4.5 million worth of scholarship funds since 1999 and Miller says the goal is that students who receive scholarships invest back in the community.
“It’s our hope that our scholarship recipients will come back to our community to live, to work, to play, to give back, to pay it forward,” Miller said. “We have had several scholarship recipients who have actually sent it checks to fund scholarships for future students.”
