Improvisation Troupe students will showcase their craft of unscripted comedy in this year’s first improv show Friday at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

“I like to tell people if they don’t know at all what it is to think of the show ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’,” theater director Heather Willingham said. “It’s situational comedy where they’re not really given anything except a word or some game rules, and they have to become a character and act out the scene.”

While the show may be improvised, troupe members have been meeting in the mornings since school started to improve their improv skills.

“We play a bunch of different theater games to help us think fast on our feet, and we have to come up with scenes completely on the fly,” senior Grace Raber said. “It’s really hard, so to see everyone take advantage and make the best of each scene is fun.”

The troupe will continue meeting throughout the year and is planning a second show for the spring.

“I’m really hoping that we have an energetic crowd,” troupe president Eduardo Borja-Prieto said. “Last year at our show, the crowd was very into it and there was a lot of energy in the room.”
