Performing before its biggest audience in program history, choir will be taking the field at Toyota Stadium at 7 p.m. on Saturday to sing the National Anthem before the start the FC Dallas versus Philadelphia game.

“We’re just looking for a way to get our core programming out into the community, a little bit more off campus, and in a more public view and one of our booster club parents had a connection to FC Dallas and she said, ‘Well, let’s do this,’” choir director Bruce Stevenson said. “That’s how it came about, but just basically number one: it’s to do something very public, and number two: to have all the students involved in it.”

Students from both women’s ensemble and varsity choir will come together to perform the anthem.

“Performing for FC Dallas is an amazing opportunity to showcase the talents and skills of the choir,” junior Jessi Rho said. “I think it’ll be a great experience for the future and a stepping stone for other events the choir could participate in.”

With an average attendance of approximately 15,000 fans, Saturday’s performance is expected to be choir’s biggest performance yet.

“We’re prepared, so we should be good,” freshman Johnny Anderson. “I feel better singing with the choir, so I feel like if I were on my own, it’d be a lot more scary, but since I’m with everyone, it takes a lot of the nerve on.”
