Whether it’s something about school, being a student, or a social issue, columnist Emma Cramption tries to make sure her message is heard in her weekly column “Say it Louder”.

Being the end of the school year, mostly everybody is lacking motivation. This is the worst thing to me because you know you have to get things done but there are times where you physically cannot bring yourself to do anything.

The worst feeling in the world is just sitting in your room stressing about all the upcoming academic events. It’s even worse when no matter how stressed you are and how upset it makes you, you can’t seem to bring yourself to sit down and do it.

The end of the year is also somewhat the most important part. Many tests come about testing your knowledge of everything you’ve learned throughout the entire year. That takes a lot of studying and a lot of memory-therefore, a lot of motivation that not a lot of us have right now.

Something that helps me is doing work in increments. Sitting down and doing work for hours on end just to get it done is unrealistic for me and most likely many others. When I really need to get assignments done, I start by setting a timer for 25 minutes and working until it goes off. Then, I take a 5-10 minute break and then work for 30 minutes, then 35, etc. Everyone is different but this is something that has really worked for me.

The thing I keep reminding myself to get through this state of unproductiveness is it’s almost over. In just a few weeks, there will be no stress and no worries when it comes to school. All we have to do is make it past this last part.
