Plans for The Star expand
November 4, 2015
The latest addition to the future home of the Dallas Cowboys has been announced as the team has joined up with the city of Frisco, Frisco ISD and Omni Hotels and Resorts to create a luxury hotel at The Star.
The 16-floor hotel will be owned by Omni, a Dallas-based hotel resort company and will feature 24,000 square feet of meeting and event space and a fourth floor pool deck. The convention space will be owned by the city of Frisco but operated by Omni.
“The right partnerships bring rewards in multiple ways,” Omni president Michael Deitemeyer said in a Dallas Morning News article. “You’ll continue to see some announcements of public-private ventures from Omni…in the next couple of years.”
Jerry Jones, owner and president of the Dallas Cowboys, played a major role in deciding the future of The Star and its incorporation of a massive hotel resort. To Jones, choosing Omni to enhance the team’s HQ is like choosing a No. 1 draft pick.
“[It was a] tremendous accomplishment to partner with them,” Jones said in the same Dallas Morning News article.
With more than 300 rooms and each room averaging 400 square feet, the hotel will be one of Frisco’s top attraction resorts. A total of three food and drink restaurants, including a three-meal restaurant run by a famous chef (to be named later), will be present in the hotel. The hotel will be connected to The Ford Center at The Star by a two-level connector.
The hotel is scheduled to open in 2017 with The Star opening up in the summer of 2016.
