Whether it’s something about school, being a student, or a social issue, columnist Emma Cramption tries to make sure her message is heard in her weekly column “Say it Louder”.

The most important thing to do when change occurs is to keep an open mind. Things may not be going the way you thought it would go, but that’s just how it is sometimes. Life can’t be planned to a T, it will constantly throw unexpected events at you

Often times, we have a certain vision of exactly how our lives are going to go.

When things don’t go as planned, we tend to go straight into panic mode. What we can’t comprehend during this panic state, however, is that the change in direction is happening because we need to be on a different path.

I’ve learned that all re-direction is for a reason. When we need to placed on a different path, we will sometimes be abruptly redirected and it’s overwhelming. Some people adapt to change better than others, and I for one am very bad with it.

When change happens (especially all of a sudden), I react extremely negatively and I act with resentment, as I’m sure many people can relate. However, I always end up looking back later, glad that it happened.

The most important thing to do when change occurs is to keep an open mind. Things may not be going the way you thought it would go, but that’s just how it is sometimes. Life can’t be planned to a T, it will constantly throw unexpected events at you.

We have to come into understanding that we don’t have control over every situation. Sometimes things are going to happen that are unexpected and they’re going to change our route of life.

But that’s okay.

If you just continue riding along, you’ll likely find that it was for the better.
