Making ripples in school records
Setting a new school record in the 50 freestyle, sophomore Mallory Showalter gets ready to leave the start blocks in the North Texas 5A TISCA Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Bruce Eubanks Natatorium. Showalter finished with a time of 24.77, finishing less than a second and a half away from setting a new district record.

The swim teams earned some of the top spots in the North Texas 5A TISCA Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Bruce Eubanks Natatorium, with the team hoping their success will carry them into the upcoming district meet set for Jan. 17.
“There were several best times in relays and individual events, and Mallory Showalter broke the team record in the 50 freestyle,” swim coach Chesley Kilgore said via email. “The girls 200 free relay stepped up and finished in 4th, and the boys relays finished in 8th and 9th out of 56 teams. This meet was great preparation for district coming up in January.”
Setting a new school record in the 50 freestyle, sophomore Mallory Showalter finished with a time of 24.77. Despite being less than a second and a half away from setting a new district record, Mallory views the meet as a success.
“It’s always been one of my goals to break a school record and I’m so excited to have achieved it,” Showalter said. “Overall, I got my personal best times at this meet and I was really happy with my swims.”

Justin Jung: 8th in 100 butterfly
Abby Showalter, Hannah Nguyen, Rachel Easton, and Mallory Showalter: 4th in girls’ 200 freestyle relay
Jacob Lin, Justin Jung, Vivek Sundararamen, and Joseph Choi: won consolation finals in boys’ 200 freestyle relay
Justin Jung, Rishabh Kumar, Austin Urbine, and Joseph Choi: 8th in boys’ 200 medley relay
