Taking the mat, wrestling had a competitive weekend with both teams hitting the road for different tournaments.

The girls’ team headed to Frisco to compete in the Texas Ladies Classic taking second place with seniors Savannah West and Jordan Johnson each dominating their weight class.

“I practiced with a lot of the guys in practice to increase my speed and prepare for stronger girls,” West said. “ I actually wasn’t expecting to get first, because I’ve never placed at TLC before, but I was working to win it. I’m really proud of my team and myself for how we did.”

Boys also were in action this weekend as they traveled to McKinney Boyd for the Bronco Duals.

The team earned victories over Del Valle, El Paso Americas, Montwood, and McKinney Boyd. However, the Redhawks fell short against 6A power Allen 42-31 to finish with a 4-1 record.
