Capturing moments in a snapshot is something that students are trying to achieve in the newly formed photography club designed for anyone who enjoys photography and meeting new people.

“It is just to have fun mainly,” freshman Kush Gandhi said. “As a first-year club, we will try to expand the club as much as possible and have maybe a team of people to educate on the basics of photography as well as competitions.”

For students that join, they are able to use this time to improve their photography and receive feedback.

“I like taking pictures in my free time so I thought it would be fun,” sophomore Siri Kothapalli said via text. “I am excited to do editing competitions. I think it will be really interesting to see how everyone approaches a picture.”

Officers for the club will be decided soon and members were able to contribute ideas for competitions, events, and socials at the first meeting.

“The sky’s the limit here,” teacher sponsor Chris Ham said. “I know photography is kind of popular around high school kids, especially with the media and things like that, so I wanted some kind of platform for students to be able to kind of hone their skills and meet new people.”

Club meetings are in C243, every 2-4 weeks during Wednesday’s advisory.
